Charmain F. Jackman, Ph.D

Charmain F. Jackman, Ph.D., (she/her) is an award-winning licensed psychologist of Barbadian heritage, with over 25 years in the mental health field. After earning a doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, Dr. Jackman relocated to Boston to train at the #1 ranked hospital for pediatric care, Boston Children’s Hospital. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in forensic psychology at Massachusetts General Hospital and held an academic appointment at Harvard

Medical School from 2000-2011. She has extensive experience working with children/youth and families involved with social services and the juvenile justice system. She excelled as a forensic psychologist in the Suffolk County and Norfolk County Juvenile Court Clinics providing culturally responsive evaluations to families and educating court personnel in working with racially, ethnically, and linguistically diverse populations. She also served as Clinic Director for the Dorchester Juvenile Court Clinic. Dr. Jackman was a clinical consultant in schools for 17 years and was Dean of Health & Wellness for Boston Arts Academy, a Boston Public high school from 2011-2021.

Dr. Jackman is the founder and CEO of InnoPsych, Inc., the founder and CEO of InnoPsych, Black-woman-owned mental health tech company and an industry leader providing inclusive mental health solutions to people and companies. InnoPsych offers an online platform that has connected thousands of people of color to therapists of color. The InnoPsych team also provides emotional wellbeing programming on topics such as racial trauma, burnout, workplace wellbeing, and healing practices. She has extensive experience working with youth in crisis, families involved with social services and the juvenile justice system, and with performing artists. Dr. Jackman is deeply invested in sharing tools that foster healing and thriving. She is the creator of the My Time To Thrive card deck, which provides tools for reducing stress and fostering healthy coping patterns. Dr. Jackman has won several awards for her impactful work including the 2023 Charles River Chamber of Commerce 50 Business Leaders of Color award, Boston Business Journal 2022 Power 50 Movement Makers, 2021 American Psychological Association’s (APA) Citizen Psychologist award and City of Boston’s 2021 Innovator of the Year award. Dr. Jackman has been featured on national media outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, PBS, Oprah Daily, Essence, Black Enterprise, HuffPost and the Boston Globe.

Dr. Jackman is a lifetime member of the Association of Black Psychologists and the NAACP. She is an appointed member of the Massachusetts 988 Commission representing the NAACP Boston Chapter. She is also a founding member of the Diversity Board for Big Sister of Greater Boston, where the mission is to increase the number of women of color mentors for the organization. Dr. Jackman is a board member of the Citizens for Juvenile Justice (CFJJ), where she is able to integrate her experience as a forensic psychologist. She enjoys walking, reading, good food, and spending time with her husband and two children.
