The Watertown Community Visionary Award:

Purpose of the scholarship:

  • To encourage Watertown residents  to continue their active engagement in social and economic justice issues and   to carry on Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders’ legacy by combating intolerance and striving to create a positive change for a better world.

  • To  help Watertown residents attain their educational and professional objectives to succeed to their fullest ability. 

Eligibility:

The $1500 scholarship will be awarded to an individual who:

  •  Has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to and is active in social, racial, and/or economic justice in our community and broader world.

  • Has demonstrated desire and drive to carry on Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders’ legacy by combating intolerance and striving to create a better world.

  • Has overcome personal obstacles, challenged the status quo and has been an agent of change in their respective communities.

  • Has ties to the Watertown, MA community and is at least 14 years of age.

Duration of Award: 

The scholarship will be a one-time, non-renewable award
